Thanks for this post. I was trying to recall what cathedral I had visited that had yellow stars against a blue backdrop. It was the duomo in Siena. Absolutely gorgeous though from the ground, one can barely tell they are stars way up there. Fitting, I think.

Just finding your blog today, I wanted to let you know that the mixed up that happened with some college teams on allomatch was a mistake from their part that we tried to correct. We are now making sure that the site doesn't make any mistakes anymore. We are also now showing more NFL and College Games from the internet with the NFL game pass and if we still don't have the late night licence for sundays and mondays, we are the only bar in Paris that stays open till the end of the very last college game we show on Saturday night! Truth is, we are real Football fans! See you next time in Paris! Wos bar team

It's strange how many Americans do not know who Gainsbourg is. He can be compared to the Elvis of France, many American artists have been influenced by him. He was truly a musical genius who wrote songs decades ahead of his time. His biopic comes out in January which will make him the new Edith Piaf in terms of American recognition.

Just a quick correction on your report..he was never married to Birkin. They were lovers for 13 years...Birkin was superstitious and thought that marriage would change things.

I'm pretty sure "Don't Stop" was the technical problem because we left after that.

As for the last song, we didn't stick around for the second encore so Don't Stop was the last song for us. We did hear more music when we were outside so I figured there was a second encore (which is a first for any of the 7 concerts I've done in Paris -- see earlier posts -- and I don't recall them doing a second concert in Charlotte in April) but I didn't know what it was.... thanks for informing me :)

So I missed 55 minutes huh? Crap. When we arrived, they made comments that were typical of post-opening song comments. I remember hearing all of Rhiannon so I think we walked in on the 6th song.

brutal game, eh?!? Mom and I went to the game... Disappointing... There was something going around before the game about wearing black if you wanted bobby to leave, or white if you wanted to stay. The man who exclaimed publicly that he wanted Bobby Bowden to leave was the grandfather of one of my classmates. Sitting on the 13th row on the fifty yard line, we could see all the action.
